Clam Studio, Dexter Loves Dirt, and Friday Pot Luck
Quiet day in the campground today. My sinuses are acting up and I’ve been battling a headache for the past 2 days, so I took it easy. Dexter and I enjoyed a nice long walk on the trail around the perimeter of the campground. He had fun chasing and carrying this stick. The view just outside my back door is amazing!
The winds have been quiet so I decided to set up the Clam House today so I could do some crafting outside. I’ll have to keep an eye on the winds but it’s lovely to sit outside in this screen house and paint. My portable studio is working out well.
Dexter spent some time in the screen house and some time outside laying in the nice warm dirt!
I made cornbread in the camper oven this afternoon for the potluck dinner. It turned out well, cook through the center and not burned on the edges. I put a 12 inch pizza stone in the bottom of the oven to help distribute the heat more evenly and that seemed to work quite well. I also used an oven thermometer to help me regulate the temperature properly. There was none left over after the barbecue so I guess it turned out okay. Rusty and Tim, the campground owners, really put on a spectacular spread every Friday evening here at the campground. This week, Tim barbecued chicken & ribs and they were absolutely sensational. My fellow campers brought lots of yummy side dishes like broccoli salad, baked beans, smoked salmon on toast, and deviled eggs. There were salads of every variety, coleslaw, and macaroni and cheese. For dessert we had apple crisp, cookies, and a delicious chocolate cherry cake cooked in an instapot! About 25-30 people attended this evenings dinner, a large group. After dinner Bob made a nice fire and we enjoyed it’s warmth while watching the sun go down. Another great day here in this desert paradise!
